Lorcana

Lorcana: standard sleeves, and the foil curl

The cards are Pokémon-sized. The foils are the part that misbehaves.

5 min read

Disney Lorcana does not need its own sleeve system. A card is 63×88 mm, the same family as Pokémon, One Piece and Magic. Standard matte outers, standard perfect fits, standard pennies. A Japanese-size sleeve, the kind you buy for Yu-Gi-Oh!, is too narrow.

Enchanted cards

Enchanted cards are the textured chases. Treat them like a textured holo from any other game. Edges only. Do not drag a finger or a cloth across the face. If a perfect fit will not take the card with light pressure, stop and use a penny sleeve as the inner. Forcing it is how texture scuffs.

The curl

Lorcana foils curl more readily than a typical Pokémon holo when the room swings from damp to dry. The paper and the foil layer disagree. Sleeve the card and leave it somewhere that holds it flat: a side-load binder pocket, or a deck box that is actually full enough that cards cannot bow. Do not bend a curl backwards to 'fix' it. That crease does not come out.

Play and the binder

  • A Lorcana deck is 60 cards. The deck box you use for Pokémon is the right size. Double-sleeved, move up a size if the lid has to be forced.
  • Shuffle the outer sleeve, not a penny. Pennies stick.
  • Binder: one sleeved card per pocket. An Enchanted card does not share.
  • A card you might grade: clear penny, then a semi-rigid if it is leaving the house. Do not wipe the foil first.

Dragon Shield Matte, standard

Dragon Shield

The default outer sleeve for Pokémon, One Piece, Magic and Lorcana.

Matte backs shuffle cleanly and hide the fine scratches sleeves pick up. A box of 100 is the right unit for a deck plus spares.

Dragon Shield Perfect Fit, standard

Dragon Shield

A tight inner sleeve. Dust and a splash have to travel past two openings.

Used under an outer sleeve with the openings facing opposite ways. Do not force a thick textured card — if it will not slide with light pressure, use a penny sleeve instead.

Double-sleeving standard-size cards you play or bind.

Vault X zip binder, 9-pocket

Vault X

A side-loading zip binder with stitched pages. The sensible default for a master set.

No rings, so nothing presses a dent into the inner column. Side-load pockets do not dump cards if the book tips. 360 and 480 pocket sizes cover most sets. Do not overstuff a pocket.

Mini digital hygrometer

Various

A small reader for relative humidity. More useful than another sleeve you do not need.

Paper and foil want a stable room, roughly 40–55% relative humidity, not a bone-dry box and not a damp UK cupboard. Read the room the cards live in. Attics, cars and exterior walls swing too hard.
