Build the stack
One card, one job. The layers change if you are shuffling it, binding it, posting it, or sending it to be graded. Grading companies rewrite their packaging notes — treat that result as the pattern, then check their current page before you post a submission.
Recommended stack
A binder that does not bite
Side-load, no rings, one sleeved card per pocket. The sleeve is what touches the page, not the card.
- 1
Perfect fit or penny
A perfect fit seals dust out. A penny is fine if the card is thick and the perfect fit fights you. Standard size — the same family as a Pokémon card.
Dragon Shield Perfect Fit, standard on Amazon - 2
Side-load zip binder
Stitched pages, zip shut. Skip O-ring binders — the ring leaves a dent on the inner column.
Vault X zip binder, 9-pocket on Amazon
Leave these out
- PVC pages. If the pack does not say PVC-free, do not buy it.
- Two cards in one pocket.
- Top-load pages in a bag. Tip the book and they leave.
- A windowsill. Light fades ink, including through a clear page.
